Villazón sings Händel

Classical music lovers should encircle Wednesday red in their calendar. The film festival at the Rathausplatz shows a concert of the Mexican tenro Rolando Villazón from London.

The popular opera singer is going to be seen at an interpretation of Georg Friedrich Händel. Especially beautiful is also the classy and hoar ambience, where the star tenor performs. Villazón namely sings in the gorgeous St. Paul's cathedrale, which was built in Händel's lifetime and which is known for her fantastic acoustics. Next to the musical exhibit are the 22 gastronomes at the Rathausplatz cattering like we are used to for the guests' well-being.

Joyce will sing Händel - Salzburg 2009

I have heard today from good authority (thanks !), that Joyce diDonato will sing the Händel concert with the Gabrieli Players on 02nd August at the Salzburger Festspiele instead of Rolando. Well I like her, but mezzo instead of tenor ?! No, sorry Joyce...

Rolando at "3 nach 9"

Rolando will tomorrow be guest at the german tv show "3 nach 9" which is broadcast live on "NDR" starting at 10:00 p.m. till 00:00 p.m. He will talk about his new album "Händel". The show is moderated by Amelie Fried and Giovanni di Lorenzo. Other guests tommorow are: Sonja Kraus, Silbermond, Sarah Kuttner, Arthur Abraham, Dirk Roßmann and Axel Hacke.

Ps: Cause of his laryngitis and the whole situation I was worried about if he will really come tomorrow, I mean the guests are invited already for a long time, and so I wrote an email to "3 nach " where I asked if Rolando is still scheduled and they answered me "yes" !!! =))

Short report about Rolando at ARD

Here's a report about Rolando broadcast at the german tv channel ARD, where he talks about his love for Händel. The translation follows as soon as possible - promised =)

Anna will give a concert in Copenhagen (18th September), in Oslo (21rd September) and in Stockholm (24th September) with the Danish Radio Orchestra conducted by Emmanuel Villaume. The concert in Copenhagen was already sold out after 14 minutes !!! Unbelievable...

Hope that I didn't forgot to wright anything. School is really getting on my nerves at the moment, I don't find the time to work at the blog =/ There are still soo many things I have to work on here...better stop thinking about, otherwise I will get crazy..."il fantasma, il fantasma..." ; )

Rolando sings Händel

Here you can hear Rolando singing "Dopo note atra funeste" from Adriondante of out his new Händel album called "Arias" - which will be international released on 16th March and exactely on 20th March in Germany - during the recording session with Paul McCressh and the Gabrieli Players.

I think that this repertoire suits him very well and it sounds really beautiful, but to be honest I hope that he will not sing too much out of the baroque music, Händel and whatever, in the future.

Rolando's new Händel album will be released on 20th March 2009 at Deutsche Grammophon. The cover is not available already, but here's the track list:
